Loretta Chase's "Mr Impossible"

Mr. Impossible - Loretta Chase

Took me about 100 pages to get into the story, and almost gave up on it several times before reaching that point because of the murder and mayhem and confusion, what with 2 gangs of villians plus Egyptian names, customs, police, speech etc to sort out. The love story and love scenes are delightful and the plot is very very good, if you can stand the murder and mayhem.

The cover on the edition I have is awful, however - the heroine never even remotely wore anything like that in the book. Looks like some generic "early Victorian romance" cover the publishers just slapped on at random. Could have been much much better, given the Egyptian setting.
